Benches and Community Clean-up Campaign

Four main projects done today...
1. Installing four benches, which began by breaking cement with digging irons and picks.  The legs were then cemented into the sidewalk.  Two of the four benches, including the one pictures below, were put next to a basketball court, and the other two right in front of our community center classrooms.
2. Continuing work on the mural.  Our main artists, Samantha, Olivia and Sam, are passionate about their mural, which depicts both the roads that people can choose (the broad or narrow way) as well as a visual representation of the parable of the Sower.
3. Most of the team took garbage bags and put on gloves, and picked up a bunch of trash from every street in the neighborhood.
4. Jill, Bethany, Tiffany and Tina finished painting the bathrooms, a cheery off-pink color!

Tomorrow...church in the morning, a pot-luck afterward, and a concert in the evening!

Quote of the Day: In similar words Jesus said to his followers, “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” 1 Jesus clearly acknowledged that following him involves risking the safety, security, and satisfaction we have found in this world. But in the end, Jesus said, following him leads to a radical reward that this world can never offer. This begs a question from each of us: do we believe the reward found in Jesus is worth the risk of following him?
