Yesterday, Myhiah and I drove to Los Reyes, a neighborhood about 20 minutes from here towards Mexico City, and found the warehouse. We managed to fit 2 fully assembled wheelchairs and 8 more in boxes. I doubt if we could have fit one more chair in the van, we were pretty full (with one seat out).
Turns out Iris called me today, and the special needs school in front of our community center needs 20 chairs! In our investigating around the neighborhood we became aware if at least five more people. So, this coming Friday evening (in combination with a break dancing outreach) we will be presenting the first 10 chairs to 10 students from the special needs school, and will be soliciting at least 15 more chairs for the remaining people requesting a chair!
The chairs cost about $12 a piece to help with import costs. If you'd be interested in helping out, let me know!
