Oops, Sure did Underestimate that Response!

A few days ago I mentioned a wheelchair project...we came into contact with an organization called Operation Blessing, that donates free (well, almost free) wheelchairs to needy people here in Mexico. Haz click AQUÍ para ver su sitio en español.

Yesterday, Myhiah and I drove to Los Reyes, a neighborhood about 20 minutes from here towards Mexico City, and found the warehouse. We managed to fit 2 fully assembled wheelchairs and 8 more in boxes. I doubt if we could have fit one more chair in the van, we were pretty full (with one seat out).

Turns out Iris called me today, and the special needs school in front of our community center needs 20 chairs! In our investigating around the neighborhood we became aware if at least five more people.   So, this coming Friday evening (in combination with a break dancing outreach) we will be presenting the first 10 chairs to 10 students from the special needs school, and will be soliciting at least 15 more chairs for the remaining people requesting a chair!

The chairs cost about $12 a piece to help with import costs.  If you'd be interested in helping out, let me know!

Quote of the Day:  There is an old maxim that those who say it can’t be done should get out of the way of those who are doing it. What if a global, God-exalting, passionate idealism is exactly what is needed in the lives of individual Christians today? What if these radical Christians joined together in communities of faith called churches that were surrendered to the purpose for God’s people that has been primary from the beginning of time? Maybe, just maybe, together we would see the accomplishment of that purpose.
